Miss M spotted these deer this morning upon leaving the house. 5 deer! Very impressive indeed. Our town is overrun with deer, they are a regular sight. But usually we see groups of one or two. Not 5 all chilling out together. There’s even a baby in there.

It’s a little hard to see all the deer in this picture (taken with my iPhone 3GS) so here is close up.

Always a great start to the day so see wildlife!

I live in the Great North amidst a rainforest. Perfect for exploring rain or shine. Hooray for exploring!

The amazing thing is that no matter how tired the girls proclaim to be, how they can’t possibly take one more step the protests disappear as soon as we hit the trail.

Best friends and sisters – the best combination! I love how they spent the walk holding hands and chattering away to each other as if they hadn’t seen each other in years. <3 Dooters!

Today was a very special day – after repeating Salamander swim lessons a whopping 7 times before passing I wasn’t too sure what to expect when Miss T made the move from preschool classes into Swim Kids 1 this session. Well I am happy to report that she passed! The first time through, with flying colours!

Oodles and Oodles of Pictures in celebration of the girls’ accomplishment in dance this year! Tala excelled in Ballet, Jazz and Tap, and Malie amazed us all with her natural ability in her first year of Ballet. Whether or not she would decide to perform in her year end performance was touch and go, but she is so glad that she did.

Next year Tala is taking Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Recreational Acro. Malie is adding Jazz and Tap to her schedule.

Today was Sea Fest…. a rainy morning, followed by a glorious afternoon. The girls had an absolute blast and met Carole James (leader of the BC NDP). Forget Dora & Boots… pictures with politicians are so much better!

We also had the opportunity to take a Horse Drawn Carriage tour of Prince Rupert’s downtown core. I love this picture of Tala with the horses.

Yesterday I touched base on how fortunate we are to live on the North Coast. We have wildlife at our front doors. Today during our morning walk we came across this fellow galavanting around the streets.

Deer are a plenty in town here, and its not unusual to run into them in a daily basis.

One of the benefits of living in a coastal community is the access to breathtaking views, as well as living in close proximity to various wildlife. One of my favourite species to watch are definitely the Bald Eagle population that call Rupert home, and feast upon the fish that return to spawn every year.

This morning we were treated to a very special scene, as an Eagle took the opportunity to bathe himself in the low tide.

Another day and another April snow storm thru Northern BC…. what on earth? April 8th, and the snow was even worse today then it was yesterday. It snowed over night, then it was sunny and the snow went away, then it snowed and actually piled up pretty good, then it was sunny and it went away again, then it snowed, and now its sunny!

Amazing that this shot turned out as I was blinded by the brightness of the snow. Snow this time of the year? Not my favourite weather trend!

Happy Easter!

I was feeling especially creative last night and so when I went through the living room I made a design of hearts with the eggs, and then continued the trail through to the dining room to their big surprise.

The girls had a blast tracking their eggs down this morning, and were very impressed with how much the Easter Bunny spoiled them this year. I picked up oodles, and oodles of stickers in addition to chocolate treats. They each got little notebooks, and colouring sets, plus Easter Socks.

Prince Rupert got our very own taste of the Olympics when the Torch Relay came through town. The girls were ecstatic about meeting the mascots… and even more so about watching the entertainment on the big stage. The evening was topped off with fireworks. All in all a great outing, and a great time was had by all. To see such an amazing event happen in our little town was pretty amazing. Things to cheer about up North are few and far between. So seeing the community spirit come out full force was a great experience.

Such a momentus, once in a life time experience deserves 6 days of photographs…haha

The girls set out to make a cake for Ryan’s birthday and boy did they ever succeed in making a unique creation! Being that they’re both from absolute different ends of the spectrum they could not agree on what to do….let alone the colour of the icing to be used. So we compromised. One half of the cake for Tala’s artistry, the other half for Malie. Here’s the finished product!

An exceptionally rainy Sunday makes for shenanigans. Malie headed off to a friend’s party this afternoon and came home with all sorts of fun goodies.

There’s nothing more fun to do on a dreary Sunday then dance around the house in tutus just like any little ballerina!

Thank goodness for my Canon Rebel as my point and click camera definitely couldn’t have caught this photograph. Malie tossed the slinkee at the camera and the picture turned out awesome!

Today’s picture is a tad different…. By now you guys are used to pictures of my kids, and the occasional picture of the sunset. However, in celebration of the New Year that is upon us I took a picture of the most popular gift for me this year. I adore candles, I rarely buy them for myself though as they are an added (and sadly) un-necessary expense. So hooray for Candles as presents!

Heading into New Years we see a lot about resolutions to change oneself, to make improvements to make us more of the perfect person we strive to be. But this year I’m not making any resolutions. Not to say that I’m perfect….but I’m endeavouring just to keep on track the way I’m going. I am happy with my life the way it is, sure there are bumps in the road, but I am truly happy and I hope to stay that way!
