DAYtwelve – 365 Days of Photos

Another beautiful day in Paradise – aka Prince Rupert!  It is amazingly beautiful and gorgeous for the 2nd day in a row.  The forecast for the coming week is sun, sun, and more sun.  Which means potentially record temperatures, and a possible flooding of the Skeena River.  And while I have no control over the potential flooding, I do have control over my camera!

WARNING – You are about to see many many photos from the last 2 days of outside fun as I could simply not narrow it down to only 1.  So perhaps this *should* be the DAYtwelve thru DAYtwenty of photos!  LOL.

017This is definitely my absolute most favourite picture of Miss M.  This is her brand new stroller that she adores.  Sat in every single stroller they had in Zellers yesterday until she found the right one.  Baby is along for the ride of course!

030Tala playing around at the neighbourhood playground.  Slides are just as much fun to go up as they are to go down you know ;O)

020The biggest, most exciting event of the day is that Miss T has finally mastered the leg pump and is swinging all on her own!  My baby is growing up so quickly!

DAYten – 365 Days of Photos

My little dancing machine has recently informed me that in addition to taking ballet classes she would love to take tap classes!  Tonight she was busy showing me her moves in an attempt to sway my decision.

tippitytap She definitely has the energy for it!  And Mommy is swayed in favour, pending acceptable class times!

DAYnine – 365 Days of Pictures/Gosh Darn It

I “missed” a day already! Today marked the 3rd power outage for us in 2 weeks and while the power was back on in time for supper it still threw my evening off. So a giant :P to BC Hydro and the transformers that don’t appear to be functioning very well lately, and are creating serious havoc around town here!

It is still however still May 26th… and thus I haven’t truly missed today… and while I haven’t got a new and snazzy picture to share with yall I will take a walk down memory lane and share an oldie but a goodie!

My “super model” little girl showing off her lovely Ladybugs & Lullabies Hair Clip. This picture was featured as Ladybugs & Lullabies Baby of the Month last year! Allison of Ladybugs & Lullabies is having amazing success lately and I encourage you to check out her shop!

Think You Can Dance?  Guaranteed you have nothing on my little dancer!

022 Tala has absolutely loved her Little Steps 2 class with Miss Laura and is very enthused to continue her lessons after Summer Break!  She sure has some funky dances coming out these days…. makes me wonder what their top secret dance performance will entail!

See you back tomorrow for DAYnine!

DAYseven – 365 Days of Photos

This has been the absolute best weekend of my life. We had an absolutely wonderful, exciting, fun time. It was one of those weekends that sitting here reflecting I can't help but smile.

My Dad, in typical unconventional gift giving fashion, gave Malie a tent and lantern. The girls of course insisted on setting it up inside their room last night. This morning we moved the tent into the front yard. And of course it went back into their room tonight for another “campout”.

Happy Birthday Miss Malie!

While Malie’s official 3rd birthday was on Wednesday this last week we celebrated today with a grand total of 10 kiddos running around the house (literally towards the end of the party when they actually started running in circles around the outside of the house!). It was a lot of fun, and Malie had an absolute blast which was of course the point.

birthdaycollage This year I decided to try something different and set forth to bake a cake instead of shelling out top dollar to have someone do it for me. It was an interesting adventure with a fairly good result. I ordered a cake topper through ebay in April to facilitate this goal. I was super impressed with the ease of applying the cake topper, and how gosh darn great it looked! There is no way a marginal cook like myself could have created something so beautiful on my own!

mycake The cake topper is actually really super neat, and you can pick from so many designs. Tala picked out an absolutely gorgeous Alice in Wonderland one for her birthday!

The cake was a little bit of a salvage mission though! Malie had requested fruit filling and try as I did it was a huge disaster. As soon as I added the top layer the berries went sploosh and oozed out of all sides. And then on top of that the actual top of the cake kept sliding in all directions. Its a miracle that I managed to save the cake and have it look half way presentable. I had already applied the cake topper and everything to boot… so I had to tediously remove the top layer of the cake without it breaking it in half. Then I scooped all the berry topping off the 1st layer. Cut the bottom layer into 4 pieces for easier handling and moved them to a new tray. I cut the berry stained edges off the bottom layer and went to work again without the added layer. Cooking with Jaime is always an adventure! What else can I say? Either way I was up till 1am baking the silly thing!

In addition to sugaring the kids up on cake we also had a pancake brunch complete with heart shaped pancakes, whipped topping, raspberry & strawberry compote, gummy worms, chocolate m&m’s and heart sprinkles. A definite feast made for princesses & princes!

Total cost for the party including fruit, cake topper, decorations and goody bags for 11? $40 which is not too shabby! In previous years I’ve spent that much just on the cake (blush!).

DAYsix – 365 Days of Photos

I survived Malie’s 3rd Birthday Party!  We had 8 kids plus Tala and Malie in our new place to celebrate with a panocake brunch.  Every little kids’ dream breakfast complete with whipped topping, strawberry & raspberry compote, gummy worms, chocolate m&m’s and heart sprinkles.  Absolutely delicious feast!

DAYfive – 365 Days of Photos

Bubbling Over With Excitement over her birthday party Malie is definitely a handful today!  I don’t share her enthusiasm so much as my home will be overrun with 11 kids running around!  Yikes!  And its now after 8pm and I just started baking her cake that has to be complete tonight to give the topper a chance to settle before tomorrow.

028 Tune in tomorrow for DAYsix and an update of the 3rd birthday party of the century!!!

DAYfour – 365 Days of Photos

Little, Big Girl!  Perhaps it was the choice of clothing today, perhaps its sentimental Mommy after Malie’s 3rd birthday, but Tala looked so “grown up” today.  The transformation is amazing really.  Watching the girls grow up is such an amazing gift.

DAYthree – 365 Days of Photos

Hip Hip Hooray!  DAYthree already.  Today was Malie’s 3rd birthday.  We celebrated with a Strawberry Shortcake Cake, and a first thing in the morning present from Mommy & Big Sister Tala.

Tala worked very hard drawing pictures in Malie’s card the night before, which is why Malie looks so shocked/in awe in the first picture.  She absolutely adores the picture that Tala drew of her in her stroller.

daythreeHope everyone had a great day and we’ll see you tomorrow for DAYfour!

DAYtwo – 365 Days of Photos

Did you think I forgot already?  I was just waiting for the absolute perfect shot!

Malie’s 3rd birthday is tomorrow.  Initially we had planned on baking cupcakes to bring to school tomorrow as a Family of 3.  However, Miss Malie was all pooped out after a long day running around at school and fell asleep on the way home.  Thankfully Miss Tala had more than enough enthusiasm to fill in.

At such, with great pleasure, I present the very enthusiastic (and immensely proud) baker!

daytwo

Be sure to check back tomorrow for DAYthree and what I’m positive will be a picture of the beautiful birthday girl!

DAYone, 365 Days of Photos

AYone of the 365 Days of Photos with the Optimistic Beauty, part deux.

Miss Tala is the focus of today’s photo during our dance party this morning. She was super busy showing us her awesome dance moves from dance class. This Dance Mommy is looking forward to her first ever dance performance that is quickly approaching – and is shrouded in secrecy! None of the parents are allowed to know what the routine is. But I can guarantee that I’ll be weeping in the audience!

So the 365 Days of Photos Got Away From Me

My big 365 days of Photos with the Optimistic Beauty Project got away from me. With all the moving and settling into my new place the time to dedicate to the project just wasn't there. However.... we are 100% settled into our new place, and while we are still super busy, I am back and more dedicated to this project than ever!

So starting today I endeavor to share with you my 365 days of photos!

As an added bonus I am also creating a photobook full of my 365 days of photos. For my personal enjoyment of course, however, any family who would like a copy of the finished copy are more than welcome to inquire!

Stay tuned for today's picture!
